The Award programme was introduced by HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, in 1956 in England. Since its inception, HRH has been growing the programme. The programme is now present in 113 countries. The Late Mr. Mohammad Ali Rangoonwala brought this unique programme to Pakistan in 1987. Late Hakim Mohammad Saeed remained its Chairman for 10 years. The Award programme is now available in Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Quetta, and other cities.
The Award World is divided into four regions that include Africa, America, Europe & Arab States and Asia-Pacific. The Asia-Pacific region includes Australia, Hong Kong (PRC), India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, New zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri lanka, and Fiji. The Asia-Pacific Regional Board meets annually. Duke of Edinburgh Pakistan assisted in establishing the progarme in Afghanistan. The Duke of Edinburgh HRH Prince Philip has twice visited Pakistan since the inception of the programme here. |
